Pop can DRAGSTERS! Using pop cans, toothpicks, an elastic, a bead, a pencil, cardboard and a paper clip we built a roller that moved! We learned how the elastic stored energy and then released to move the can. We learned that we needed a thicker piece of cardboard on top so that our bead didn't fall through the top of the can affecting the friction and tension of the elastic. We learned that Science sometimes works and sometimes fails! :-) We had fun today seeing how far they would travel depending on how many times we wound the elastic.

Working Together
We've had such a positive start to our year. Working together and learning together!
Here we are discussing where we could find rollers in our world, as well as what the difference might be between rollers and wheels.
Now, it's time to experiment! We discovered that rollers sure made the job easier of pushing these boys, however we would need a lot of rollers to go a great distance, and it was impossible to turn a corner!

Tour of Alberta
It was exciting to be a part of history today! The inaugural Tour of Alberta passed through Leduc enroute to Red Deer on its 3rd day. How fortunate that it was right in our backyard!!! We wandered over and enjoyed the goodies from the City of Leduc... I know you'll thank me later when you child is flapping the hand clappers around the house!! :-)

First Day
Welcome back! Here we are on our first day of Grade 4, looking mighty fine! Our day sped by so quickly, it's hard to believe that it's over already! I'm really excited to work with this group of students, and I know that we will have a great year together.
