T'was the week before Christmas...

and 4C is still slaving away!  Mrs. Campbell is back, refreshed and ready to teach!  The students enjoyed practicing their multiplication facts using the interactive dice on the Smart Board.  The Smart Board never fails to amaze me!  Touch the dice and it rolls!  The kids wait with eager anticipation to see what the numbers will be and to be the first to solve it!

In Health we will be working on ideas relating to Body Image.   Using Magazines we cut out pictures and made a collage of people.  With that collage we listed characteristcs that were common throughout the pictures.  We pretended to be aliens and wondered how aliens would perceive ALL humans if they only had media! See some examples below of student collages.

Aliens might think that all humans must be muscular and play sports!

Aliens might think that ALL humans are happy all of the time!

In Science we are completing our unit on Light and Shadow.  Using the Netbooks, students each had a Specific Learner Outcome in the form of a question that they had to answer.  Once they had answered the question, they created a powerpoint slide showing their question, their answer and pictures or words to help describe it.  Examples of these Outcome questions are:
Does the moon produce it's own light?
Does the length of a shadow change throughout the day?
How are good relfectors alike?

Christmas Concert Preview!

Today the Grade 4-6 students had their dress rehearsal for their presentation of,  The Grinch Who Stole Christmas!    It is FUN!  What a fabulous job the students and teachers have done to pull it all together!   I missed out being involved with it this year, but look forward to it next year!

Here are some photos of today's rehearsal.  From where I was sitting, I unfortunately missed pictures of the rest of the class who were doing an AMAZING job singing!!  Great work 4C!

Happy December!

I have had an amazing year at home with my 3 children, and now I'm looking forward to returning to my post in Room 16, teaching Grade 4!   I have enjoyed my past 3 days in the classroom observing and getting to know the students.  The students were so cute today in their farewells to Mr. Wutzke.    They will miss him!  Thanks to him for getting the students off to a great start!
There will be changes in Room 16... that is inevitable!  Different teachers = different methods
I just wanted to let you know my expectations and please contact me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns.  It was great to meet a lot of you at parent-teacher interviews.

As a class, WE WILL:
1) Keep all our belongings in our lockers (jackets, bags, lunch kits)
2) Respect each other and others belongings
3) Raise our hand to speak, and take our turn
4) Keep our desk and classroom tidy
5) Bring our agenda to class everyday and take it home each evening
6) Try our best at everything we do

I will keep you posted on the classroom routines.  For example:
 1) Spelling will always go home Monday and the test will be Thursday.
2) Basic Facts will be given on Monday and due Friday

I know that we will have a great rest of the year together!
