Light and SHADOW

In this Science unit we had some fun today learning about Shadows.   We know that opaque objects create the best shadows, and that the distance of the light source affects how big or small the shadow is.   Today we created tinfoil objects and checked out its shadow with a flashlight at different angles and distances. We traced and coloured in 2 different shadows created by our one object.  We call this SART --- Science + Art!

Daily 5

We are moving into all areas of the Daily 5 program.   Students are in groups and they move throughout the stations as the ELA periods progress.   Here you see students Listening to Reading, Reading with Someone, Reading to Self, Working with Words and Working on Writing.

Science

In our Light and Shadow unit, we have learned about the difference between opaque, transparent and translucent objects and how light travels through them. We are creating a Google Presentation as we go along, keeping track of what we learn.   Here the students are working on their various slides.   They can show this to you by logging onto their Google Drive from their home computer.  Google Drive is also available as an app for your iproducts!

ELA Sequencing

In Language Arts we are working on sequencing in our writing and finding it in our reading.  We have learned about how it makes sense to put things in order, and different transition words that can help us do this.
Here are the students working in partners, writing a paragraph using transition words.  They did a great job!

Group Work

We are excelling at group work and at partner work.  I love seeing how these kids work together to solve their problems and complete the task at hand.   We are almost ready to present our French plays and we are helping each other with our multiplication tables in these pictures.

 Some great acting!
