Long Division

Today we attempted long division in the kinesthetic way!  We even succeeded!   It was a fun way to review the steps to long division in this traditional way.  Can you follow the pictures?!

BOOK CLUB

After learning many reading strategies and practicing with our whole class novel studies, we are ready to work in small groups.  Students have been grouped and given a novel to read.  The novels are based all on the same theme that KIDS CAN DO IT!   We've had some great conversations about how kids can make positive changes in their communities.  It starts at home, in the classroom, in the school yard and can grow to even their community, province and country!   We learned about Ryan's well and how his small efforts has turned into a foundation that he now runs as an adult.  Check it out at www.ryanswell.ca
The students are really keen on this theme and have begun creating their own clubs where they can make a positive difference in their own school.  Well done, 4C!

Here they are with the book that they will be reading and discovering how the characters in their book (kids their own age) make a positive difference.  Kids can do it!

LRC today

We were so fortunate to be invited to the LRC today for the official announcement that Leduc has been awarded the 2016 Alberta Summer Games!    We were treated to an hour of swimming beforehand.  Then we listened to the Mayor, and other dignitaries welcome the games to Leduc.   A great way to spend our morning!  The kids were fabulous, of course!   The first few pictures here are from the Dufflebag Theatre that presented Cinderella to us yesterday afternoon.  The kids thoroughly enjoyed this funny rendition!

Mother's Day...

I hope you were all spoiled and treated well by your children this Mother's Day.  I love these magazines that the kids created for you.  Here are some samples of what they think you look like! :-)  I love this kind of art from my own kids and I'm always curious what they will say!   I'll admit that I had a few giggles as I read their paragraphs!  I missed a few. :-(
