Science Project

In Science, we are completing our combined units of Wheels and Levers and Building Things That Move, by designing a complex Rube Goldberg machine.   Students have chosen what task they want their machine to perform.  For example:  clean their rooms, make their lunch, wake them up in the morning.
They are to use all of the simple machines that we have studied in class to create this machine.  It is meant to be complex and impractical!!!
Here's a sample of what I'm looking for.  Also, check out Rube's site at http://www.rubegoldberg.com/

Check out this site for more examples and even some GREAT videos!

Inside Education Presentation

Today, we had a guest in our classroom from Inside Education. Pamela taught and reviewed with us Alberta's energy sources and where they come from. In these pictures, the students were role-playing how fossil fuels are made. They were creating a recipe... We had our chef who added in: salt water, ancient plants, ancient animals, bacteria, rock and soil.. bake at extreme heat for 350 million years and... VOILA! Oil, Coal and Natural Gas!
The students were AMAZING listeners and were very engaged in this presentation.  Mrs. Campbell was PROUD!
